DESCRIPTION: Love the Pennines? Love hacking on the Moors? Then step this way. Margaret Haes Riding Centre is looking for an enthusiastic BHS Stage 2 qualified instructor who enjoys teaching riders of all abilities, and leading ridden and non-ridden courses. While only a Saturday job there is the opportunity of cover work on other days and it’s a great charity offering unique experiences for children and adults with disabilities. They also promise a ‘good rate of pay for the right candidate.’

 

GROOM/RIDER, near Bath, Somerset

DESCRIPTION: A private family yard is looking for someone to carry out yard duties including exercising and schooling eventing horses as well as accompanying the horses when they compete. This is a 5.5 day a week job with some flexibility regarding days. Accommodation is available. The salary is based on age and experience and it comes with holiday entitlements, benefits package, and pension.

RIDING SCHOOL MANAGER, Blackwood, Gwent

DESCRIPTION: Smugglers Equestrian Centre is looking for someone to manage its busy BHS established riding school. This is a full-time position and one that requires both clerical and hands-on involvement. Duties include organising and overseeing yard staff duties, working with an online booking system, maintaining records and liaising with the farrier, dentist and physio, and the schooling and training of horses. Candidates must hold at least a BHS AI or equivalent qualification and a driving licence is preferred. Although the pay is not specified, benefits include 28 days holiday and pension scheme.

TEAM MEMBER, near Great Yarmouth, Norfolk

DESCRIPTION: Many of you will have heard of the Redwings Horse Sanctuary and here’s your chance to work for them, but you’ll have to be quick, the deadline is looming. This is a full-time permanent position with a specified salary of £23,795.20 and a comprehensive holiday and benefits package. While qualifications in equine support are desirable, candidates must be able to show sound knowledge and a proven working background of caring for equines. As well as typical yard duties, candidates will need a flexible approach to tasks and workload, and a commitment to equine welfare. A full manual driving licence is also needed.

P/T EQUINE OFFICE ASSISTANT, Wellingborough, Northants.

DESCRIPTION: The ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of equines, must hold a full clean driving license, be self-motivated and able to work on their own initiative, as well as part of a team. This is a mixed bag of duties that include general admin duties, basic lab procedures including running blood samples and sending samples to external laboratories, ensuring equipment is kept in good working order, assist with keeping the practice vans in clean and in good working order, maintaining the large animal laundry area, and monitoring the drug stock, among other duties.  While experience of working in a similar animal-based environment would be useful, training will be given. The position is for approximately 15 hours per week, mid-to-late afternoon, 3 – 5 days a week. The pay is £11.50 to £12.00 per hour, but there is a company pension, sick pay and employee discount.

F/T YARD GROOM, Cobham, Surrey

DESCRIPTION: Silvermere Equestrian Centre is family-run riding with 40 horses. Employing a range of staff from BHS Stage 1-4, everyone is given the opportunity to train for BHS exams and the school is actively looking for a full-time groom looking to progress up the BHS qualification system. Saying that, riding is not a requirement of the job. Instead, the ideal candidate needs to be enthusiastic, have equine experience and work well as part of a team. A high standard of horse care and empathy towards horses is also a must. While the pay is dependent on experience, there is also a live-in option.

P/T DEVELOPMENT OFFICER, Devon and Cornwall

DESCRIPTION: The British Horse Society is hiring! The equine welfare organisation is looking for someone with 22 hours per week to spare, experience of the equestrian world and of working with volunteers in order to build a strong volunteering community and presence in Devon and Cornwall that can support the charity’s core objectives. The role includes delivering a programme of events and activities “from clinics to webinars, social events to CPD and much more.” Among the key skills needed are experience in organising and running events, including risk assessment and promotion, excellent communication skills, and commercial awareness. A BHS professional qualification is desirable, but a full driving licence with own vehicle is essential, as are good IT skills. The salary is £27,000 FTE and includes a comprehensive package of benefits.
