Description: It’s a fabulous, worthy opportunity, but you’ve got to get your skates on for this one as the closing date is today (Friday, 26th July). HAPPA – the Horse & Pony Protection Association – is looking for an Equine Rehabilitation and Rehoming Manager to manage and oversee the intake of rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of all HAPPA equines. Responsibilities for this permanent role will include the day-to-day running of HAPPA's stables and facilities and management of staff with the main aim being to maintain the exemplary standard of care enjoyed by HAPPA equines.

Description: Fancy joining the yard of rising star Franky Reid-Warrilow, currently carving out a successful career for herself on the International Eventing circuit? Then step this way. ‘Team Franky’ is looking for “a driven, motivated person who wants to learn and ride!” Don’t be fooled, you actually have to be able to ride, but training is available for those who want to progress. The job starts in September and it’s a full-time position with the opportunity to bring your own horse. With up to ten quality event horses on the yard, from unbroken three-year-olds to 5* competitors, confidence and competence in managing a yard is essential. The successful candidate will be expected to exercise the full range of horses. Previous experience of working on a yard is also essential and references will be asked for. While salary, holiday, pension, and national insurance are all listed, there is no indication of the wage you might expect.

F/T HEAD GROOM, Newbury, Berks
Description: While there’s no riding required for this one, the job does involve the hands-on care of foals and youngstock at a small National Hunt Stud in “a lovely village” near Newbury. The role also involves all aspects of running a yard including all horse care, feed, farriers, vet appointments, and the maintenance of paddocks. Oh yeah, you’ll also be responsible for the care of 15 alpacas. Preferable qualifications include an NVQ in racehorse care, as well as experience of handling foals and youngstock. A driving licence is also required. A “competitive salary” is offered with additional work possibly available for a partner. Family and pets are welcome, which is nice.

Description: It’s all about the eventers this week, and here’s Meadows Eventing looking for a “hard-working team player”. Apparently, the person MUST have a good work ethic, their capitals not ours, and be enthusiastic, friendly and reliable. The job starts with immediate effect following a trial morning – if you pass the test, we guess. The salary is said to be “good” depending on experience, and there’s sick and holiday pay. What you have to bring to the party is experience of handling young/competition horses and yard duties. Over 18s only need apply.

EQUINE TOUR GUIDE, Colorado
Description: Fancy escaping to the Wild West? Then check out this position at a family-owned business offering riding tours through the Rocky Mountain National Park. The right cowgirl or cowboy will be “courteous, dedicated, responsible, outgoing, energetic” and horse lovers with good people skills. The monthly wage is said to be $2,100 (£1,226) plus substantial tips, although how substantial isn’t specified. There is also the option of room and board for a minimal fee of $100 a month. Rooms are bunkhouse style cabins for males and females with meal plans available.

P/T YARD ASSISTANT, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
Description: If you like forests and you like your forests regal, listen up. King's Forest in Bury St Edmunds was named to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of King George V and Queen Mary, and it’s also home to King’s Forest Livery who are looking for a part-time assistant. It’s an18-hour-a-week role, including Sundays with “good rates of pay.” While riding skills aren’t required, applicants need to be confident handling horses.

Description: If you’re a newly qualified coach, Cranleigh School Equestrian Centre would like to speak to you. Describing itself as a “vibrant yard, mainly dealing with children” as it’s part of a school community, the centre is looking for a competent, friendly and reliable groom who is energetic and motivated with previous experience. Apparently, this is “an ideal opportunity for a newly qualified coach to gain experience teaching beginners and novice riders as part of a school environment.” Though a teaching qualification would be desirable, it’s not essential. This position is billed as fulltime, but the centre might also be open to the idea of a job share.
