Description: If you like “keeping horses to a high standard” there’s a competition livery yard looking for you! Rectory Farm requires a new rider/groom who is hard-working and a team player able to work under the leadership of the head girl. Plenty of riding is promised for the right person and there’s a wide range of horses and ponies to enjoy from FEI Ponies to 1.30 show jumpers. This is a five-day week job from 7:30am to 5pm with one hour for lunch. While no wage is given, candidates are said to get 28 days paid holiday a year and the possibility to bring a horse.

Description: If you feel the need for speed, Henry Daly Racing are seeking a stable staff member for their work riding team. The role includes riding out, mucking out, evening stables and attending race meetings with the horses you are destined to take care of. In return, good wages are promised, but not specified, there’s overtime, a racing allowance, a share of winnings, bonuses, insurance and pension. Flats and houses are available on site.

Description: Fancy going Dutch? Then pull up a chair. A family-run international dressage, breeding and livery yard in the Netherlands (close to the Belgium border) is looking for someone motivated and good with young horses. The job includes general care of horses, saddling, and yard maintenance with hours from 8.00 to 16.00 four days a week and one weekend day. A driver’s licence and experience with machinery is an advantage. This role is best suited to a non-smoker who wants to train with a GP dressage rider/Olympic eventing dressage coach. And in a Brexit twist, the position is only open to EU citizens or those who have an EU work visa.
P/T GROOM AND ANIMAL CARE, Bodham, Norfolk
Description: This is a real pony-rabbit-chicken cocktail of a job! A live-in position for an experienced, reliable and friendly groom/animal carer with the right knowledge and skillset to look after a family’s pets to a high standard. On the face of it, the hours don’t sound especially taxing (approximately 90 minutes in the morning and 90 minutes in the afternoon). To “bump up the hours if required,” there will be a chance to ride and the ideal candidate would be an experienced and lightweight rider capable of schooling a 15.2 pony to a novice/intermediate BD level. Bonus application points for those who can pull manes, clip, trim, and plait up. Accommodation is included in the package and is said to suit someone retired or wanting a slower pace of life.

Description: Here’s one for the shoppers. One of Europe’s largest equestrian and country stores is hiring. The role is varied and includes serving customers in “a friendly, welcoming manner.” Candidates should also be able to work off their own initiative, be a good team member, and possess equestrian knowledge. The hours are every Wednesday and every other weekend. The salary is said to be a “good rate of pay” and there is free parking on-site and an employee discount scheme.

F/T HORSE FEEDS DELIVERY DRIVER, Risby, Suffolk
Description: Simple System Horse Feeds is hiring. It’s a small, close-knit team proud of its customer service and they need a “friendly and efficient” delivery driver to join them. Requirements are: a clean driving licence, forklift trained and a team player with excellent customer service skills. A van, uniform and fuel card will be provided. And the working day usually covers 250-300 miles with ten to twelve drops. Along with a “competitive salary” there is paid overtime, a 40% discount on feeds and 28 days annual leave, inclusive of bank holidays.

Description: It seems a ‘competitive package’ is all the rage this week, and this one is offered by a private yard with top class, homebred sports horses made up of international show jumpers, top level racehorses and team chasing. Accommodation is included on siteand the role involves all day-to-day yard duties, exercising, sales prep for young stock and support while out competing at the weekends. The job is said to be best suited to someone with “a real love of horses.”
